Run Time: August 1 – August 28
If you’re after the ultimate predator — the meanest, hottest, sea-lice covered Steelhead — you’ll want to be on the Lower Skeena and its tributaries during this season.
These awesome fish average 8 to 15 pounds while 20 pounders are not uncommon.
It’s typical for even the most average of fish to go on unstoppable, to-the-backing runs, leaping all the way down.
These ultra-chrome rockets have left many an angler with shaking hands and a desire for more.
There is also the added bonus of being able to catch all five species of Pacific Salmon during this season.
Run Time: September 1 - October 31stFall in the Skeena Region offers some of the finest fishing opportunities in the world for Steelhead and Trophy Coho Salmon.
This is the season that has made the Skeena watershed justifiably famous.
We fish some of the most beautiful wilderness rivers in the world.
Towering snow-capped mountains rising over 3000 feet above meandering streams surround the orange, red and green of BC’s coastal Autumn making for an experience you’ll never forget.
Fall fish are surface-oriented and can readily be taken with both waked and dead-drifted dry flies.
The Summer-Run Steelhead of the Skeena watershed have entered their winter-holding streams and the Fall fish are pouring in, strong and fresh from the ocean.
Coho have also been entering the Lower Skeena tributaries since early September, with the larger “Northern Coho,” arriving in October.
Simply put, fall scenery in the Skeena Region is spectacular.

Early Winter Steelhead
Run Time: October 31 to November 20
This is indeed a special season. A season of legendary fish and legendary anglers.
Non-steelheaders think it’s insane to step out into a frost-covered morning and wade into a freezing wild river.
We know better though.
We know pools full of large, wild Steelhead await any angler brave enough who's prepared to face the elements.
A few casts. A solid strike. A savage battle all coming together as we look down on the shimmering broad shoulders of a large buck Steelhead in the shallow water at our feet.
If this is what you live for, our Early Winter Steelhead season is for you.
The scenery is breathtaking; snow-capped mountains and towering conifers dominate the landscape. Fishing conditions are prime; the rivers are running low in a seductive shade of light green.
Early winter in Northwestern British Columbia can be one of the most productive and memorable times of the year for the Steelhead angler to explore Lower Skeena rivers.
Starting in late July and running through August, September and October, Steelhead have been pouring in from the ocean; the pools are stacked — and fresh fish are still arriving.
Typically cold evenings keep the glacial melt and run-off to a minimum and the rivers running low and clear — or in that enticing shade of “Steelhead Green.”
The bustle of summer and fall are over and the majority of anglers are gone, leaving the rivers very lightly fished. What’s a little chilly air when each cast promises a chance to hook a Trophy Steelhead?
